It Started With a Question No One Should Have to Answer.

One conversation. One community willing to help. One idea that became a foundation.

A Heartbreaking Decision

A Little From Many Foundation started with a conversation at home about a heartbreaking decision no one should have to make.

My wife works at a small Kansas elementary school, where she serves as the district's homeless liaison and helps coordinate the distribution of weekend Snack Packs provided by Harvesters. These bags help provide food for children who may not have enough to eat when they are away from school.

One evening, she shared a difficult situation with me.

Due to program funding cuts, her school was receiving only 10 Snack Packs each week.

The problem?

24 families, representing 32 children, had signed up for the program.

32 children who needed food.

10 bags available.

How do you decide who gets to eat?

How do you look at 32 children who need help and decide which ones will receive food that weekend?

A Different Kind of Tough Decision

I have faced some tough decisions throughout my career. Decisions that weighed heavily on me and kept me up at night.

But none of them come close to what my wife was facing.

My decisions were about business. Hers was about something far more important.

Which children would have food for the weekend, and which would go without?

A Community Steps Forward

I shared our conversation with a Facebook community I belong to called Tax Preparer Stress Relief (TPSR). The group is normally a place where tax professionals share stories, frustrations, humor, and encouragement.

This time, my post was different.

I titled it "Feedback on a Tough Decision" and started with a warning: "Not a funny post."

I explained the situation and asked the same question that had been weighing on my mind:

"How do you distribute 10 snack packs when 32 kids need them?"

What happened next was something I had not expected.

Several members of the TPSR community responded with offers to donate money to help fill the gap.

These were people who had never met the children, had never visited the school, and had no personal connection to the families.

They simply saw a need and wanted to help.

From One School to a Bigger Mission

That response got me thinking.

What if we could bring together a group of people, each willing to contribute a small amount, to make a meaningful difference?

What if we could help schools bridge the gap between the food available and the number of children who need it?

And what if we could create something that would continue helping children beyond this one school and this one situation?

That is how A Little From Many Foundation was born.

The idea is simple.

We do not need one person to give a lot. We need many people who are willing to give a little.

Small Contributions. Big Difference.

A few dollars from one person might not seem like much. But when combined with contributions from others, those dollars can help schools purchase food for children who might otherwise go without.

Our mission is to bring people together through small contributions that make a big difference, providing schools with resources to help ensure children have food when they are away from school.

It All Started With 32 Children, 10 Bags of Food, and One Question.

How do you decide who gets to eat?

Our hope is that, through A Little From Many Foundation, we can help schools face that question less often.

Because a little from many can make a big difference.

Help Us Make a Difference

Every contribution, no matter the size, can help schools provide food for children who need it.

Together, we can turn a little from many into something meaningful.

Make a Difference. Give a Little.
